Community providers on the job

Published February 20. 2010 09:00AM

Dear Editor:

Many Carbon County residents tele-commuted or took a personal day during the recent snow storms. But I would like to recognize and thank a dedicated group of professionals who didn't stay at home - community providers.

Community providers give crucial assistance to those with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and addictive diseases. These workers braved the extreme weather to continue helping the children and adults in their service. Many more anticipated the wintry conditions and stayed as long as 36 hours in their facilities.

Too many people are unaware that these providers serve 365 days a year, without consideration for holidays or snow days. They are dedicated to delivering essential services to those who rely on them.

For many people in service, community providers are the only ones they can depend on to be there for them in times like these.

I thank these workers for their sacrifice, and I take pride in representing such a compassionate industry.
