Hoosiers, Vavra cop Big Ten swim titles

Former Panther Valley swimmer Alyssa Vavra won the gold medal in the 400 Individual Medley for the University of Indiana in the Big Ten Championships over the weekend. Vavra's performance helped the Hoosier women to their second straight Big Ten title.

Vavra won the 400 IM with an NCAA-qualifying time of 4:06.94. She also won the bronze medal in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:10.66, just missing an NCAA B-cut time by three-tenths of a second.

Vavra also finished eighth in the 200-IM in 2:00.69.

She was also named to the All-Big Ten first team.
