New polling places for area are set
New election polling places in Schuylkill County, selected after the county court reduced the number of districts to 125 which became effective Dec. 31, 2009, and will be used for the first time in the Primary Election on May 18 were announced by Election Director Frannie Brennan.
In Tamaqua the number of precincts were reduced from six to four and voters residing in the First Precinct will be casting their vote at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Fafayette St.; Second Precinct, East End Fire Company, Columbia and Broad sts.; Third Precinct, High Rise Building, 222 E. Broad St.; and Fourth Precinct, South Ward Fire Company, 325 Van Gelder St.
West Penn Township had the number of voting districts increased from two to three. Their locations are, First District, Municipal Building, 27 Municipal Building, New Ringgold; Second District, Saint Peter's Church's Social Hall, 184 Saint Peters Road; and Third District, West Penn Elementary School Building, 1865 School Drive, New Ringgold.
Rush Township had the number of voting districts reduced from four to three with only one voting location change, West District, Hometown Fire Company, 45 Mahanoy Ave. The East District will be voting at the Armory Hall, Hometown, and Elixir District at the Barnesville Community Association Building.
Schuylkill Township has the number of voting districts reduced from two the one. The polling place for the township will be at the MaryD Fire Company, 85 Walnut St.
Coaldale had its number of precincts reduced from three to two and their locations are, East Precinct, Borough Hall, 221 Third St. and West Precinct, Ambulance Building, SR209.
Blythe Township had the number of precincts reduced from two to one. The polling place for the township will be Good Will Hose Company, Water St., Cumbola.
East Union Township had its number of districts reduced from three to one. The polling place for the township will be at the township building, 10 E. Elm St., Sheppton, behind the J&J Auction.
Kline Township had the number of precincts reduced from two to one. The polling place for the township voters will be at the former township fire house, Fifth Street, Kelayres.
Mahanoy City had its number of precincts reduced from seven to four and the voting precincts will be located at: for the First Ward, West End Fire Company, 700 W. Mahanoy Ave.; Second Ward, Schuylkill Regional Resource Center, 138 W. Centre St.; Third Ward, Municipal Building, 239 E. Pine St.; and Fourth Ward, Good American Hose Company, 738 E. Mahanoy Ave.
Delano Township voters will be voting at the Delano Fire Company, Birch St.
East Brunswick Township voters will be voting at the Lutheran and Reformed Hall, 1751 Chestnut St., New Ringgold.
McAdoo retains its voting places, those residing in the First Ward will vote at Keystone Fire Company Number One, Grant and Hancock sts., and Second Ward voters at The Strand, 119 E. Blaine St.
Middleport voters will be voting at the Citizens Fire Company, Washington St.
New Philadelphia voters will be voting at Good Intent Fire Company, 15 McComb St.
New Ringgold voters will be voting at the Community Fire Company, Railroad St.
North Union Township voters will be voting at the Municiipal Building, 185 Mahanoy St., Nuremberg.
Walker Township voters will be voting at the Municipal Building, 9 Township Road.
