Man charged with bringing drugs to prison
A Lehighton resident was charged with bringing illegal drugs to the Carbon County prison.
Nesquehoning police chief Sean Smith obtained a felony warrant for Joseph Moyer Jr., 232 North St., rear, on Feb. 19, charging him with bringing 10 baggies of heroin to the prison on Feb. 12. Moyer was picked up on the warrant and arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford. He was committed to the county prison in lieu of $5,000 straight bail.
Borough police reported on other arrests made by officers.
Smith filed a summary offense against Daniel Tristani, 1165 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, for failure to pay his sanitation bill from July through November 2009. The bill owed is for $162.
Officer Brian White charged a 17-year-old male juvenile from Nesquehoning with retail theft for an incident at Redners Market on Feb. 17, about 8:10 p.m. The teen attempted to remove $23.45 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for it.
Officer Timothy Wuttke filed a driving under suspension charge against John J. Aleksiejczyk, 71 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, on Feb. 13.
Officer Ronald Peck issued two citations for traffic violations, one at Oak and Catawissa sts., for going 44 miles-per-hour in a 25 zone; and one on SR209 at SR93 for a stop sign violation.
