Three placed in probation program

Three first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Tuesday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program the Commonwealth reserves the right to prosecute them on all pending charges.

The three placed were:

Quasand Danyale Lewis Jr., 20, of Bronx, N.Y., was placed for two months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on April 9, 2009, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township following a vehicle stop by state police for a motor vehicle code violation.

He was ordered to pay $350 and costs.

Daniel James Sabol, 19, of Emmaus, was placed for a year on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on Dec. 17, 2009, following a domestic dispute at his then residence in Summit Hill with his wife, Judith, the listed victim. The two are now separated, it was noted.

He was ordered to pay $350 and costs, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, attend and complete anger managerment counseling, have no contact with the victim except for custody matters and render 15 hours of community service.

John C. Vrablic Jr., 30, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. He was arrested on Oct. 4, 2009, at Bertsch and Leisenring streets, in Lansford. Given a test, the result was .14BAC.

He was ordered to pay $400 and costs, get a D&A evaluation, render three hours of community service per month while in the program and his license was suspended for 30 days.

Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
