Dog's death probed by Animal Response Team
Donna Crum, Carbon County Animal Response Team coordinator and county animal cruelty officer, is asking for the community's help to find out more information on the death of a dog.
During the monthly meeting of the CART team on Wednesday, Crum announced that the body of a male pit bull, fawn or tan in color with a white patch of fur on its chest, was discovered Tuesday afternoon behind Lehigh Drive near the Lehigh River.
The canine had sustained a wound from an unknown object. No identification tags or a collar were found on the animal.
She is asking that anyone who knows of a pit bull that fits the description or if anyone is missing a pit bull to contact her at (610) 826-4901.
The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
In other matters, the group is looking to recruit volunteers.
Crum asked that anyone interested in helping animals during emergency situations, visit a meeting and see what CART is all about.
She also urges past and current volunteers to attend the meetings.
The schedule for the group's upcoming meetings are March 29, April 28, and May 24, starting at 6:30 p.m., at the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency in Nesquehoning.
Some of the goals CART strives toward is to decrease the threat to humans and animals, prevent and decrease the spread of diseases, and minimize the economic impact of animal emergencies.
