It was reported today that the only survivor on the torpedoed tanker W. D. Anderson is Frank L. Terry of Lansford, a former lifeguard who went to sea only two months ago. The tanker was sunk on Feb. 23 by enemy submarines off the Atlantic Coast, about 12 miles from Florida. Thirty-five members of the crew died in the flaming wreckage or were drowned. Terry, 23, was on the deck when the attack occurred. He managed to dive into the ocean just as the tanker exploded into flames.
