Washington Township ends 2009 with $51,000 carry-over money
Secretary-treasurer Joann Ahner of Washington Township told the supervisors at their Dec. 31 end-of-year meeting that a balance of $51,000 remains in the treasury to carry over to 2010. She added that the township did not have to touch its investments.
Sally Mantz, earned income tax collector, said she has been contacting Bethlehem, Allentown and Centax trying to collect money owed to Washington but collected in the other municipalities. They are not responding.
The amount in question is $156,000. She asked if Solicitor John Ashley could write "stern" letters to get a response. Permission was given.
All invoices were approved for the year to close out the books.
A resolution was approved revising the Act 537 sewage plan at the request of the Lehigh County Authority. The change will affect the Glencrest area.
Supervisor Abe Ahner, who was not reelected, presented a letter requesting he be hired by the township when there is an opening. It will be taken under consideration.
