On this date

State Senator Fred Hobbs of Pottsville was the principal speaker at the dedication ceremony of the housing project at Ridge Terrace, Coaldale, by the Housing Authority of Schuylkill County. The senator told the 100 persons in attendance, "This project gives us hope and optimism. It shows that we are beginning to develop an awareness for the present and future generations." The event was held in the recreation center of the development.
