Driver cited after Schuylkill crash

A driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, along SR54 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Sean K. Anderson, 31, of Quakake, was eastbound and attempted to pass another vehicle. Anderson lost control of his 1998 GMC Yukon which went onto the south berm and struck a utility pole. After impact with the pole the vehicle rolled over onto the passenger side against the tree.

Anderson was injured and taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, by Mahanoy City ambulance. Troopers said damages were severe to the vehicle.

Troopers said Anderson will be cited for a vehicle code violation.

Ryan Township and Hometown fire companies responded to the scene.

Troopers also investigated a crash at 6:30 a.m. on Monday along SR924 in West Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Eric D. Croll, 37, of Zion Grove, was driving a 1996 Nissan Altima southbound when the vehicle struck a deer. After impact the Altima left the road and struck a tree along the west berm.

Croll was injured and taken to the Hazleton General Hospital for treatment.
