False soliciting reported in borough of Summit Hill

Published January 06. 2010 05:00PM

Summit Hill Chief of Police Joseph Fittos said he has received reports of false solicitations in the borough.

He said some residents have been called by someone who says they represent the Summit Hill Fire Company. The caller requests donations.

Larry Black, president of the Summit Hill Fire Department, said the department's annual fund drive won't occur until later this month or in early February.

He added that the fund drive is done by mail and not with telephone calls.

Fittos urged that anyone who received a solicitation call to obtain as much information from the caller as possible and notify the police department.

He also stressed that residents not give personal financial information to anyone over the telephone.
