Traffic stops lead to arrests
Two separate traffic stops by members of the Pocono Mountain Regional police force led to arrests recently.
On Dec. 30 about 9:40 p.m. police stopped a vehicle along SR940 at SR314 in Tobyhanna Township for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Christopher Corchado, 19, of Long Pond, and his passenger was Tierney Abruzzese, 20, also of Long Pond. Police said marijuana was observed in plain view inside the vehicle.
A search was conducted and a marijuana pipe containing the drug as well as two baggies containing marijuana was found. Charges will be filed, police said.
The second stop occurred on Saturday, Jan. 2, along SR940 at Long Pond Road in Tobyhanna Township. Police stopped a car driven by Raymond Fontaine, 40, of East Stroudsburg, for a traffic violation. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), and was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.
Test results revealed Fontaine's blood alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit of .08 percent. He will be charged with DUI, police said.
