A Northern Lehigh High School student, Dawn Kopecki, and her classmates presented a petition to the Northern Lehigh School Board asking them to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday on Jan. 18. After much discussion, the board voted 7-1 on a motion made by board member Gary Fedorcha to observe the day by closing the schools on the requested date.
