Farming in the'50s and '60s

The regular meeting of the Towamensing Township Historical Commission will hold a public meeting on Jan. 13, 7 p.m., at the Towamensing Township municipal building on Stable Road off Route 209.

The program will feature a talk about "Farming in Towamensing in the Fifties and Sixties." It will include a slide show using fifties technology and commentary by township resident Dr. Roy Christman.

Christman, who grew up on a Towamensing farm, will discuss changes in township agriculture in the last half century.

All historical commission meetings are open to the public and are free of charge.

Other items on the agenda include a report on the Greenzweig School on Church Drive and an upcoming meeting with Carbon County officials about the future of the historic Koch Road Bridge.
