Carbon man victim of identity theft
A Carbon County man is the victim of identity theft.
State police at Lehighton said an unknown person obtained $50,000 in student loans using the name of the victim - Matthew M. Williams, 39, of Bowmanstown. Williams became aware of the incident after being notified by creditors that there were two loans in his name currently in default.
The incident was reported on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 1:30 p.m. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
