Lady Raiders, Fillies post wins

Tamaqua and Marian both posted victories in girls basketball action on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tamaqua-Panther Vy.

Tamaqua used the strength of a prolific second quarter to post a 42-26 Schuylkill League victory over upset-minded Panther Valley.

Amy Zehner netted 11 of her game-high 14 points in the second quarter for the Lady Raiders (10-0). Teammate Cassie Eroh posted nine of her 10 points in the final stanza.

Dana McFadden and Olivia Markovich both hit early three-pointers to help the Panthers earn a 8-7 lead after one. McFadden ended up finishing with a team-high seven points.

Schuylkill Haven-Marian

Three different players netted double figures to spark Marian to a 59-35 Schuylkill League win over Schuylkill Haven.

Gillian Ferko paced the Fillies (7-3, 4-1) with 15 points. Jen Linkchorst and Danielle Tristani followed with 13 and 11 respectively.

In the JV game, Marian cruised to a 43-15 victory.

Lourdes -Weatherly

Lourdes Regional got off to a strong start and cruised to a 58-27 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.

Nicola Calia paced the Wreckers with seven points.

In the JV game, Lourdes scored a 69-43 victory. Brittany Hinkle and Alicia Panzarella both finished with 15 points for Weatherly.

Tamaqua-Saucon Valley

Saucon Valley, fresh off winning the team title at Saturday's Anthracite Duals, won nine of 11 contested bouts and rolled to a 65-8 non-league victory over visiting Tamaqua.

Garth Lakitsky improved to 21-0 for the Blue Raiders with a 17-2 technical fall over the Panthers' Ian Gimbar, while Kolby Mashack is 18-1 after scoring an 8-2 decision over Adam Chernaskey.
