Monroe crash involves buses

A Monroe County rear-end type crash involved two school buses. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the accident, which also involved a tractor-trailer rig, occurred about 9:14 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, along SR423, in the area of SR611.

Police said David Fritz, 62, of Bovard, Westmoreland County, operating a tractor-trailer rig, was stopped in the westbound lane for a disabled vehicle. Police said Pocono Mountain School District bus 713 stopped behind the truck driven by Jeffrey Hein, of Tobyhanna. Bus 703 came up behind the two stopped vehicles, driven by Zulma Dominguez, of Tobyhanna, and ran into the rear of the other bus, pushing it into the rear of the rig.

The two bus drivers were injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. Fritz was not injured. Police did not indicate if there were any passengers on the buses.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
