Tamaqua news
Birthday wishes
Jayne Myers of Tamaqua is 96 years young, celebrating her birthday on Jan. 8. Although her "friend" Arther Itis has slowed her down a little, she stays active, caring for her own home, playing bingo several times a week and attending Tamaqua Senior Citizen meetings.
The widow of Kenneth Myers, she is the mother of four sons: Ken "Mejo," who passed away in 2005; Charles, married to Joanne; John "Jack," married to Denise; and Gary, married to Lynn. She describes her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren as being "too many to count."
Summers are spent camping at Locust Lake State Park.
A founding member of the former South Ward Fire Company Auxiliary, she is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tamaqua.
