Carbon County telephone book recycling program set for February
The Carbon County Department of Solid Waste will hold its annual Outdated Telephone Directory Recycling Program, also known as the Phone Book Recycling Program, from Feb. 1 to Feb. 19.
Drop off sites will be located at area schools.
Since 1996, over 275,032 old phone books have been collected, recycled and reused as animal bedding on local farms. Old phone books are ideally suited for reuse as animal bedding due to their high absorbancy rate, cleanliness and biodegradability.
Awards will be given to the students who collect the most telephone books, as well as the student who brings in the oldest telephone book.
For more information on the program, contact the schools or the Carbon County Department of Solid Waste at (610) 852-5111.
