Lehighton council has vacancy to fill

A vacancy exists on Lehighton Borough Council.

Borough Manager John Wagner said any resident of Lehighton interested in serving on the council should make application by 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Municipal Building.

A decision on filling the vacancy is expected to be made by the Lehighton Borough Council when it meets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25.

The empty seat on council exists because in the November election, Donald Rehrig ran for both mayor and borough council. He won both seats, and opted to retain the mayor's post.

In charge of the meeting on Jan. 25 will be Council President Grant Hunsicker.
