Monroe man facing multiple charges

A Monroe County man is facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, following an incident that started on Thursday, Jan. 14, and continued into Friday.

State police at Lehighton said Robert James Stevens, 45, of Saylorsburg, physically assaulted and kidnapped his former girlfriend, identified as a 44-year-old from Ross Township. During the kidnapping Stevens is charged with assaulting her and also using a motor vehicle without permission and taking money from the victim.

She was entered into the national NCIC network. On Friday the victim entered the Belfast barracks. She was injured from the assault.

Also on Friday troopers took Stevens into custody and charged him with kidnapping, aggravated and simple assault, robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
