Preliminary hearings held for drug suspects

A number of drug related defendants have had their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer this month. Most of the defendants elected to waive their rights to such hearings, preferring to wait until their cases were called in Schuylkill County Court. One defendant chose to have her case heard.

Lori Oakes, 41, of 419 E. Union St., Tamaqua, was bound over for county court trial on all of the charges filed against her, including four felony and two misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to possess a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell following a March 20 incident.

Oakes was released after posting ten percent of the imposed $1,000 bail.

Defendants choosing to waive their rights included:

Jonathan E. Jacome, 19, of 236 S. Kenedy Dr., McAdoo, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged by McAdoo Patrolman Adam Walsh following a Dec. 11 incident.

Jacome was released on $25,000 straight bail.

Justin M. Neff, 23, of 119 Pine St., Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua Sgt. Richard Weaver with possession with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana. The charges stem from a May 7 incident.

Neff was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Ryan Navitsky, 31, of 251 Brown St., Tamaqua, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The charges stem from a Nov. 6 incident and were filed by Rush Township Acting Chief Duane Frederick.

Navitsky was released on his own recognizance.

Dustin P. Oncay, 25, of 107 Washington St., Tamaqua, will face trial on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy with intent to deliver, conspiracy to use/possess drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to possess an illegal controlled substance. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell following a May 15 incident.

Oncay was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Brenda L. Zimmer, 46, of 6 Cherry St., Tamaqua, was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy with intent to deliver, conspiracy to use/possess drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to possess an illegal controlled substance. Charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell following a May 15 incident.

Zimmer was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Angela J. Wagner, 46, of 60 River Rd., Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility. The charges stem from a May 6 incident.

Wagner was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

Kelly Marie Dalessio, 33, of 607 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, had hearings scheduled for incidents that took place on two seprate occassions. All of the charges were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell. The charges, stemming from an April 14 and a May 28 incident, include possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility.

Bail was set at $10,000, ten percent, in both cases. Dalessio was able to post bail.

Larry L. Wagner, 30, of 300 1/2 Arlington St., Tamaqua, failed to appear for his hearing. Arresting officer Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig presented his case, charging Wagner with possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges stem from a Nov. 12 incident.

Derek P. Snyder, 23, of 577 Blue Mountain drive, Andreas, also failed to appear in court. The case was presented by Trooper Troy Greenawald, Pennsylvania State Police. Charges included possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. They stem from a Sept. 23 incident.
