Koch's Turkey Farm CBS News interview air time is postponed

A piece for the CBS Evening News on antibiotics in foods that includes footage recorded at Koch's Turkey Farm in the Lewistown Valley outside Tamaqua has had its air date postponed.

The two-part story, in which CBS Reporter and TV personality Katie Couric interviewed Duane Koch, vice president of the Walker Township turkey farm, was originally scheduled to air on Thursday, Jan. 21 with the 6:30 p.m. newscast.

However, Barbara Koch, the farm's sales manager, notified the TIMES NEWS on Monday that the news piece is being moved to next week, due to CBS' coverage of the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.

Couric and the CBS news cameras visited the farm on Jan. 5 for the story, which concerns antibiotics added to the food we eat.

Koch's Turkey Farm is a family farm started by Lowell and Betty Koch in 1953. Koch's was one of the first farms to raise antibiotic-free turkeys.

"Everything we do is antibiotic-free and vegetarian-fed," said Barbara Koch.
