Raiders' Berezwick gets 200th win
The Tamaqua girls gave coach Joe Berezwick his 200th career victory by posting a 63-53 Schuylkill League Division I triumph over host North Schuylkill.
In other local action, Marian and Panther Valley nabbed girls wins, while Weatherly got a triumph on the boys side.
GIRLS BASKETBALL

Amy Zehner scored 20 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Tamaqua.
Cassie Eroh added 15 points, Elissa Streisel connected for 11 points and Allison Updike contributed 11 rebounds for the Lady Raiders (12-1; 5-1).
North Schuylkill was led by Shelby Weikel's 18 points.
The Spartans won the JV game 61-37. Christine Streisel scored 13 points for Tamaqua.

The Fillies (8-4, 5-2) were paced by Danielle Tristani's 10 points. Teammates Theresa Patten and Kelly Shober added eight points apiece.
Marian won the JV game, 53-19.

Katherine Donnelly's bucket with 2.7 seconds left lifted Schuylkill Haven to a 40-38 win over Schuylkill League foe Weatherly.
Nicole Calia led Weatherly (5-7, 1-6) with a game-high 19 points. Fellow Wrecker Alexa Figas chipped in with eight.
The Wreckers salvaged the JV game, 34-14.

In a low scoring affair, Panther Valley outscored Schuylkill League opponent Pottsville by seven in the fourth quarter to come from behind and win, 27-23.
Dana McFadden, who connected on four three-pointers, scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Panthers (4-7, 1-5).
Pottsville took the JV game, 31-17.

Despite being outscored by nine in the final quarter, Weatherly held on to beat MMI Prep, 48-44.
Nate Pfeiffer led the Wreckers (10-4, 3-3) with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Teammate Keith Barna added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Weatherly also won the JV contest, 42-39.

In a game combined with seventh, eighth and ninth graders, Mahanoy Area defeated Weatherly 52-26.
Mark Miller, Luke Reiner and Tyler Sipler all scored six points for Weatherly.
9TH GRADE
Tamaqua-Shenandoah
Tamaqua jumped out to 22-19 halftime lead and then was awarded a forfeit win halfway thru the 3rd quarter after visiting Shenandoah was called for numerous technical fouls including two on the head coach.
Derek Rottet led the Raiders with seven points.
8TH GRADE
Tamaqua-Shenandoah
Chris Hartung hit the game-winning foul shot with 16 seconds left as Tamaqua edged Shenandoah, 33-32.
The Raiders were led by Jake Wenzel's 12 points.
