Golden Agers
The Panther Valley Golden Agers have announced that they will not hold any meetings in January and February. The next meeting will be announced at a later date. The dues for 2010 will be increased to $3 a year.

Food pantry
The Summit Hill Food Pantry will distribute food on Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The senior commodity boxes arrive on Jan. 28, weather permitting, and the recipients will be called.
Help is needed to pack. Most of the packers are 75 years of age and older. If interested, call Rosemarie Armon at (570) 645-3604 or Sandra Hill at 645-4617.
Historical society
The Summit Hill Historical Society will hold its first meeting of the year tonight at 7 o'clock at the museum on East Ludlow Street. Lee Mantz will host the meeting.
Among the agenda items to be discussed are: Summit Hill Heritage Center, the open house and tours planned for the Memorial Day weekend, spring cleaning, and Ginder Field signage.
The society's next scheduled meeting will be on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. in the museum.
Lions to meet
The first regular monthly meeting for 2010 of the Summit Hill Lions Club will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at Maple Shade Meadows in Nesquehoning. Dinner will be served in the bistro area.
The guest for the evening will be Jane Longazel, Lions Zone chairwoman. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the meeting.
97th birthday
Former Summit Hill resident Grace Ferrari celebrated her 97th birthday on Monday, Jan. 18. Birthday wishes can be sent to her at the Gnaden Huetten Nursing Home, 211 N. 12th St., Lehighton, Pa. 18235.
Food distribution
The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy on a monthly basis. Deliveries are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon, with the assistance of the Summit Hill Lions Club, which has "adopted" the pantry as its service project.

Presbyterian Church
The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, formerly the First Presbyterian Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill, will have a regular worship schedule on Sunday, Jan. 24. The Sunday school and adult Bible study will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a service of worship at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Rogers, pastor, officiating.
Scripture sharing
The weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will resume on Thursday, Jan. 21. Sessions are held at 7 p.m. in the church hall.
