11-month-old baby's death investigated

The death of an 11-month-old girl is being investigated by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday Kimberly Taschler entered the Palmerton Hospital with her baby, Kayla Marie Taschler, deceased.

Troopers said the Carbon County District Attorney's Office requested them to investigate the incident. The Troop N Major Case Team was contacted and has responded.

An autopsy was scheduled for today at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, troopers said.

The investigation is continuing.
