St. Jerome's Tamaqua to hold registration for 2010-2011

St. Jerome Regional School, Tamaqua, will accept registrations for Kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2010-2011 school year beginning Monday of Catholic Schools Week (Feb. 1-5).

St. Jerome Regional School is a Christ- centered Catholic School open to all, serving the parishes of St. Jerome, SS Peter & Paul and St. Richard.

SJRS, in partnership with each school family, strives to form a community of faith living and teaching the gospel message. The academic program meets the national, state and diocesan standards.

Dates and times for registration are: Mon. Feb. 1, Tues. Feb. 2, Thurs. Feb. 4 and Fri. Feb. 5, 1-3 p.m. and Wed. Feb. 3, 4 -6 p.m.

Kindergarten students must be 5 years of age by Oct. 15, 2010. All registrants need: state birth certificate, baptismal certificate, social security number and record of immunizations.

Financial assistance is available. Applications for financial aid are in the school office.

If you are unable to register during the times listed, please call the school office (570-668-2757) to make arrangements for a more convenient time.

Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, January 31. SJRS has many special activities planned for CSW. A special guest will be welcomed to SJRS on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Bishop John Barres, the Bishop of Allentown, will visit SJRS and attend the morning prayer service.

Monday, Feb. 1 is Pastor Appreciation Day. Pastors will distribute report cards at 9:30. Kim Zardet, the Holy Childhood Association Director for the Diocese of Allentown, will present a program about missionary work and the HCA.

Tuesday, Feb. 2 is SJRS Open House. A prayer service for CSW will be at 9 a.m. Bishop John Barres will visit SJRS and attend our morning prayer service. Open House will be held from 9:30 -11 a. m.and 1:30 -3 p.m. All are invited to visit classrooms, meet the faculty, and view the curriculum, student work and technology. Students can also bring-a-friend to school.

Wednesday, Feb. 3 is the SJRS Catholic School Week Liturgy at 9 a.m.

Thursday, Feb. 4 is Grandparent's Day. Grandparents are invited for a continental breakfast with their grandchildren in the gym at 9:30. Students in Grades K -8 will provide entertainment for the grandparents at 10 a.m.

Friday, Feb. 5 is Student Appreciation Day at SJRS. It is a DDD for the students. The Home and School Association is providing lunch and an afternoon treat. Board game and Lion's Den activities are planned for the students.
