Tamaqua woman to head Schuylkill Young Republicans

In the Schuylkill County Republican Headquarters, a new slate of Young Republicans took the helm of the YR organization, according to its new chairwoman.

Heading the organization is Maria Montero Hoppes, of Tamaqua, the first Latina in Schuylkill County YR history to be chosen as chairperson.

"I am so honored to head the Young Republicans of Schuylkill County and help grow our organization, promote the values of: responsible government and reducing tax burdens for our citizens and planting the Young Republicans as the grassroots of our Republican party," said Hoppes.

Maria is being helped in these efforts by vice-chairman Nick Troutman, mayor of Gordon, treasurer Bradley Gotshall, councilman in Frackville and Adam Pankake as secretary of the organization hailing from Pine Grove Township.

The first function the group will be aiding in promoting the Lincoln Day Dinner scheduled for Feb. 25 at Pine View Acres, Pottsville, starting at 6:30 p.m.
