Five area residents among 14 to enter guilty pleas

Five area residents were among 14 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges Thursday in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin as follows:

Lori Oakes, 41, of 419 E. Union St., Tamaqua, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county prison followed by eight years on probation. She was arrested last May 22 by Patrolman Anthony Stanell, Tamaqua police.

Oakes was told she would be placed on probation after serving the 90 days and on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia received an additional 18 months on probation.

On a charge of fleeing by failing to stop her truck when signaled by Patrolman Robert Minnick, Tamaqua police, last May 23 she received an additional 18 months on probation sentence. She also has been ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to the Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to the Catastrophe fund and she loses her driver's license for 18 months. She was fined on a number of summary charges, reckless driving, $200 fine and stop sign violation and careless driving, fine of $25 each plus costs.

Brian Lee Filer, 42, of 407 Willing St., Tamaqua, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, restitution of $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center and $113 to the Bethlehem Regional Lab, and attend the alcohol highway safety school. Filer's driver' s license is suspended for 12 months. Filer was cited by Sgt. John Koury, Orwigsburg police, last February.

Eric Rapp, 35, of 131 Angel Drive, New Ringgold, on a charge of retail theft was placed on probation for 12 months. He also must make restitution of $244.88 to Walmart Store, Rush Township, for theft of camera equipment. Rapp was cited by Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township police last July 20.

Kimberly Anne Rossi, 40, of 253 E. Abbott St., Lansford, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison. She begins her sentence on Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. She also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center, attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and her driver's license is suspended for 12 months. On two summary charges, stop sign violation and driving the wrong way on a one way street, she was fined $25 each plus costs. Rossi was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer, Coaldale police, last June 6.

Regina Sefing, 42, of 243 E, Grant St,, McAdoo, on DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Thursday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, $60 to the Schuylkill Medical Center, attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and she has her license suspended for 12 months. On a summary charge of careless driving was fined $25 and costs. Sefing was cited by Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township police, last July 6.

Brian K. Gettig, 51, of Hazleton, on three counts of terroristic threats was given credit for time served in prison and was released on probation for 46 months and have no contact with the victim, Carroll Laukaitis, Tamaqua, and undergo a mental health evaluation. Gettig was cited by Patrolman Pete Sandor Jr., Tamaqua police, last Aug. 16.

Thomas S. Stronach Jr., 43, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of criminal trespass on private property was given credit for time served in prison and was released on probation for 23 months. He was cited by Officer Michelle Ashman, Frackville police, last July 28 for trespassing on property at 111 N. Railroad St.

Donald P. Zarillo, 24, Frackville, on charges of delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia was given credit for time served and released on probation for 23 months, fined $100, pay $50 to the CJEA fund, $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the district attorney's office for bench warrant and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Zarillo was cited by the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force on Sept. 11, 2008, in the 100 block on S. Middle Street, Frackville.

Caleb Jeff Adams III, 35, Pine Grove, on a charge of DUI was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP)with electronic monitoring for five months with the first 10 days to be spent in the county prison beginning Friday, Jan. 22, at 11 p.m., pay $100 to the SAE fund, $100 to the Catastrophe fund and his license is suspended 12 months. On a sumamry charge of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle was fined $25 and costs. Adams was cited by Cpl. Jeffrey Futchko, Pine Grove police, last July 18.

Willie J. Bland, 58, Malvern, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $200 to the Catastrophe refund, attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and receive outpatient counseling and his license is suspended 18 months. On a charge of failing to drive on right-side of road was fined $25 and costs. Bland was cited by Cpl. Marvin Livergood, Frackille police, last May 6.

Damon Solomon Brossman, 36, Schuylkill Haven, was sentenced on two counts of DUI to serve 18 days to 12 months in the county prison beginning Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m., pay fines totaling $1,500, pay $400 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $120 to Schuylkill Medical Center and license suspended 12 months. On a charge of failing to drive on right side of road was fined $25 and costs. He was first cited by Trooper Michael Van Buskirk in Pottsville last March 8 and by Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, Schuylkill Haven police, last March 15.

Jeffrey Miller, 35, Mahanoy City, on a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $100 and court costs. He was cited by Lt. John Kaczmarczyk, Mahanoy City police, last March 21 in Gallagher's Bar.

Mark Hamilton Irvine, 47, Port Vue, on a DUI charge was given credit for spending 72 hours in the county prison and was released on probation for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund and $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to district attorney's office for bench warrant, restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center and attend the alcohol highway safe driving school. He loses his license for 12 months. On a charge of reckless driving was fined $25 and costs. Irvine was cited by Cpl. Marvin Livergood, Frackville police, on Aug. 28, 2008.

Monica Ann Jeronis, 35, Orwigsburg, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP for five years with the first 120 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring, seven months under strict probation and four years under regular probation, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to the SAE fund, $100 to the Catastrophe fund, and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. She also must attend the alcohol highway safe driving school and her license is suspended 18 months. On a charge of having an open can of alcohol beverage in her car was fined $100 and costs. Jeronis was cited by Patrolman Brian Reno, Pottsville police, last Jan. 16.

All defendants must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee.
