Scouts to observe special Sunday

Published January 25. 2010 05:00PM

Boy Scout and Cub Scout Sunday is Sunday, February 7. Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to church and participate in the service (greeter, usher, etc,) which would enable them to receive a Scout Sunday Patch when they get a signed note from their pastor of their participation and gives it to their scoutmaster/cubmaster.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of scouting in the United States.

Scouting has served young people and their families through a program of values based on leadership and character since February 8, 1910 when William D. Boyce incorporated the Boy Scouts of America.

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are encouraged to wear their scout uniform to school one day during the week of February 7-13.

The Panther Valley Elementary School will allow the boys to wear their scout uniforms on Friday, February 12.

The Cub Scout Packs (Coaldale, Lansford, Nesquehoning, and Summit Hill) and Boy Scout Troops (Nesquehoning and Summit Hill) of the Panther Valley area belong to the Black Rock District which is part of the Hawk Mountain Council located in Reading.
