Tax help available to seniors, low income residents

Published January 26. 2010 05:00PM

There's help for seniors and low income residents looking for assistance with their taxes.

Beginning in February, AARP volunteers will be providing free assistance for seniors filing their state, local, and federal taxes at four area locations. They include Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall, 101 E. 10th St., on Tuesdays; the senior center in the Lehighton Rec Center, 243 S. Eighth St., on Tuesdays; Penn Forest Municipal Building, Route 903, on Wednesdays; and Beaver Meadows Borough Hall, 100 E. Broad St., Route 93, on Thursdays.

All locations will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on their scheduled day. The free assistance will be available through the end of tax season.

Items to bring when preparing to file taxes include a copy of all current tax documents plus a copy of last year's tax returns.
