Senior center

The activities for the Panther Valley Senior Center have been announced by manager Fran Craigie.

For more information call the center at (570) 669-9930. Remember to sign in or call by 10 a.m. for the next day's meal.

Chair exercise is held at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Wii Dancercise is at 10 a.m. on Thursdays.

Monday, Feb. 1 is horse racing at 11 a.m. Line dancing is held on a Tuesday plus the Sunshine meeting after lunch.

Wednesday, Feb. 3 is pay bingo at 11 a.m.; Feb. 4 is penny game at 11 a.m.; Feb. 5 darts at 11 a.m.

Feb. 8 is pay bingo at 11 a.m.; Feb. 9 is line dancing and an ice cream social after lunch.

On Feb. 10 dice will be played at 11 a.m.; Feb. 11 blood pressure readings; Feb. 12 Valentine's Day Party at 11 a.m.

Feb. 15 the center is closed for Presidents Day; Feb. 16 Mardi Gras party at 11 a.m.; Feb. 17 is pool at 11 a.m.; Feb. 18 birthday and bingo at 11 a.m.; Feb. 19 the center is closed for a trip to the casino at 9:30 a.m.

Feb. 22 Deal or No Deal at 11 a.m.; Feb. 23 line dancing and bowling at Hometown after lunch; Feb. 24 lottery bingo at 11 a.m.; Feb. 25 bean bags; and Feb. 26 shopping at 9:30 a.m.

Lansford

St. John's Lutheran

Sunday, Jan. 31, St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will celebrate Holy Communion at 9 a.m. as usual, but the annual meeting of the congregation has been changed to Feb. 7.

Everyone is welcome to worship at St. John's: Sundays at 9 a.m.; and Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Both services include Holy Communion.

Nesquehoning

NCFC Auxiliary

The ladies auxiliary to the New Columbus Fire Company will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the fire company. President Gerry McConnon will conduct the meeting.

Serving on the hospitality committee are Ursula Digiglio, Lucille Hosier, and Sissy McGorry. All hoagie papers are due.

Summit Hill

Dues are payable

Members of the Summit Hill Lions Club are reminded dues for 2010 are now being accepted. They can be sent to the club at P.O. Box 123, Summit Hill, Pa. 18250, or can be forwarded to secretary Ann Yusella.

Persons interested in becoming members of the service club can contact its president, Dr. Kenneth Vermillion.

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Jan. 31, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Sign-ups slated

The Summit Hill/Nesquehoning Little League has scheduled sign-ups for Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6-8 p.m. in both the Summit Hill and Nesquehoning Borough buildings. Registrations will also be accepted on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon at both buildings.

St. Paul Lutheran

The schedule for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, Jan. 31, includes the Sunday school meeting at 9 a.m. and the service of worship at 10:30 a.m.

On Monday, Feb. 1, the W.E.L.C.A. and Ladies Auxiliary meeting will be held at 11 a.m. in the church.

The parish's annual congregational meeting will take place on Sunday, Feb. 14, immediately following the worship service.

All members are encouraged to attend.

Presbyterian Church

The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will have a regular worship schedule on Sunday, Jan. 31. The Sunday school and adult Bible study will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a service of worship at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Rogers, pastor, officiating.

Scripture sharing

The weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will resume tonight at 7 o'clock in the church hall.
