Published January 28. 2010 05:00PM

Tamaqua police have released details of a driving under the influence (DUI) related arrest made last week.

An officer was parked in the lot at the M&T Bank, monitoring traffic at the Five Points, when he observed a blue GMC pick up truck headed south on SR309, stopped for a red light. While waiting for the green light the driver began spinning the tires, then continued the action as the light turned green and he moved into the intersection. The driver, identified as Adam Cruz of 20 Clay St., Tamaqua, noticed the police cruiser and turned into the bank parking lot, in effect turning himself in.

A breath test indicated Cruz had a blood-alcohol content of .151 percent.

He was cited for DUI and careless driving.
