Thorpe girls, Panther matmen win
The Jim Thorpe girls basketball team and the Panther Valley wrestlers both recorded victories on Wednesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Williams Vy.-Jim Thorpe
The Lady Olympians jumped out to a 18-4 lead after the first quarter of play and went on to post an easy 57-35 non-league victory over Williams Valley.
Celeste Robinson led Jim Thorpe (6-9) with 16 points. Teammate Hillary Reis added 14, while Chelsea Smelas chipped in with 11.
Jim Thorpe won the JV game, 42-20.

Bangor won its last five matches of the night and went on to beat Palmerton, 46-33 on the Colonial League mats.
Sam Oberander and Dan Costenbader recorded pins for the Bombers. Oberlander pinned his opponent in 2:27, while Costenbader won his match in 3:02.
Teammate Dallas Miata won by decision, 5-0. The other Bomber wins came via a forfeit.

Panther Valley picked up a 39-36 victory at Mahanoy Area in a Schuylkill League Division II match.
There was a total of four contested bouts, which the teams split with the Bears holding a 12-9 edge. The Panthers, however, received five forfeits to four for the Bears, which resulted in the three-point verdict. Neither squad fielded a wrestler at 112.
Justin Christman had a pin and Keith Cheadle a decision for the Panthers, who improved to 8-7 (4-1 league).
In a scheduling note, Panther Valley has added a non-league dual meet at Selinsgrove for Monday, Feb. 1.
