Marian boys notch 10th straight victory

The Marian Colts picked up their 10th win in a row and the Palmerton girls qualified for the District 11 playoffs with a victory in local action on Friday night.

BOYS BASKETBALL

East Stroudsburg North

-Lehighton

East Stroudsburg North doubled-up Lehighton for an 82-41 Mountain Valley Conference victory. The loss drops the Indians to 0-17 on the season (0-9 MVC).

Mike John scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the first half, including four three-pointers, to lead the Timberwolves. Anthony Baker also tallied 15 points for North.

For Lehighton, Tyler Hill led the way with 17 points.

Marian held Shenandoah Valley to just two first-half points and rolled to a 56-33 Schuylkill League victory.

Drew Sherkness and Cody Decker each scored 11 points apiece to lead Marian 15-3, 10-0).

For Shenandoah, Josh Dombrosky scored nine points in the loss.

In the JV game, Marian prevailed by a score of 53-51. Ryan Karnish scored 22 points to lead the Colts.

In a battle of league frontrunners, Northern Lehigh took sole possession of the Colonial League North with a 59-51 victory over Bangor. The win improves the Bulldogs to 13-5 on the season (8-4 league).

The trio of Nick Pappas (16 points), Jordan Waylen (15 points) and Evan Biegly (14 points) led the way for Northern Lehigh.

Bangor's Matt Carey scored 12 points in the loss.

Josh Case scored 18 points to lead the Rough Riders, while Tom Armellino added 14 points in the win.

For Palmerton, Tyler Kravetz led all Bombers with nine points.

Kristen Romano, Casey Rinfret and Kelsey Hay all scored 12 points apiece to lead the Lady Bombers.

Mattie Hallquist's eight points topped all Catasauqua scorers.
