PV Knee Hi
The next regular monthly meeting of the Panther Valley Knee-Hi will be held on Tuesday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. at The Sports Zoo in Lansford. This is the last meeting prior to the first practice on July 26.
Summit Hill
Methodist Church
A joint meeting of the Administrative Council and the Trustees of the Summit Hill United Methodist Church will be held on Tuesday, July 6, at 7 p.m. in the church.
Meeting canceled
Due to the Fourth of July holiday, the monthly meeting of the Summit Hill Community Improvement Organization has been canceled.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall.
Recreationcommission
The Summit Hill Recreation Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 6, at 7 p.m. in the borough hall.
Summer hours
Parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, are reminded the parish office is operating on a summer schedule. The office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Representatives needed
St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, is in need of a number of parishioners to fill its various board positions, namely the parish council and finance committee, the OLOAA school board and the OLOAA finance committee. The only requirement for the latter two positions is a desire to perpetuate the Catholic school. It is not necessary that the representative have a child at OLOAA.
Persons interested in being a representative can contact the Rev. James Burdess, pastor.
VBS is planned
The community Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through Friday, July 26-30, at the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill.
Sessions are scheduled from 9-11:30 a.m. All children from the Panther Valley area, ages 4-12, are welcome to attend.
Lansford
Infant baptized
Isabella Lucia Rose, infant daughter of Marco and Regina (Turner) D'Ancona, was recently baptized at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford.
Volunteers needed
Adult and youth helpers are being sought as volunteers for the upcoming Vacation Bible School to be sponsored by St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford. The program will run July 26-28.
Youth helpers should be in grades 7-12.

Nesquehoning
Back from trip
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Higgins returned home after spending two days attending the 23rd Annual Assembly of the Northeastern PA Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which was held at the Mohegan Sun at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre.
Bishop Samuel Zeiser presided over the assembly, the theme of which was "God's Work Our hands around the corner and around the world."
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Representative was the Rev. Stephen Bouman, who addressed the assembly. The keynote speaker was Dr. Mark Allan Powell, professor of the new testament at the Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Ohio. He presented three talks during the assembly. Many elections were held for various positions in the synod, and reports and resolutions were presented and voted upon. The budget was presented and adopted.
There were several hundred lay persons, pastors, guests, and visitors in attendance. The assembly closed with the communion service and Bishop Zeiser preached the sermon.
Mr. and Mrs. Higgins are the elected delegates from Zion Lutheran Church in Nesquehoning.
