Dauphin County woman charged with reckless driving

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville investigated a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Pine Grove Township that occurred Monday, July 5.

Both vehicles were traveling southbound when Christine Kauffman, of Williamstown, failed to see the backlog of vehicles stopped from an earlier fatal crash and struck the rear end of the vehicle driven by John L. Sherwood, of Roscoe, NY.

The two vehicles came to final rest on the western beam of the highway, facing a southbound direction.

A passenger in Kauffman's car, Fay Dietrich, of Lykens, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville for evaluation. West Schuylkill ALS, Pine Grove EMS and Hammers Towing assisted at the scene.

Kauffman was cited under the motor vehicle code for careless driving.
