Published July 10. 2010 09:00AM

A Carbon County driver was involved in a crash about 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at the intersection of SR895 and S. Rabbit Run Rd., in East Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Robert Hunt III, 19, of Reading, was operating a 1998 Ford Escort station wagon on S. Rabbit Road. At the intersection with SR895 Hunt failed to stop for the posted stop sing and entered the westbound lane of 895 and into the path of a Central Air Freight Services, of Hazleton, company box truck driven by James Lakata, 53, of Weatherly.

The Escort struck the truck in the intersection, troopers said. Lakata, Hunt and his passenger, Robert Krick, 20, of Bernville, Berks County, were all not injured.

Damages were heavy to the front end of the Escort and minor to the rear end section of the truck. Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the New Ringgold and Orwigsburg fire companies and ambulances from those two communities. The eastbound lane was closed for about an hour until the scene was cleared, troopers said.
