Nesquehoning arrests reported

Nesquehoning reported on arrests made recently and on other incidents investigated by officers.

On July 6 Chief Sean Smith was on patrol traveling south on SR209 in the area of thw Wash Shanty Hill when he observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Allen Street, attempting to turn onto SR209 by Redner's Warehouse Market.

Smith stopped the vehicle and the driver was identified as Robert Shafer III, of14 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning. Smith cited Shafer for driving under suspension and one way roadways.

On July 9 Smith filed fugitive from justice charges against Andrew Clinton Lewis. Lewis is an inmate at the county prison. Smith learned that Lewis was wanted for felony drug trafficking charges in Montgomery County, Md. Montgomery police advised Smith that they will extradite Lewis back to Maryland.

On July 9 Smith was dispatched to the office of Dr. John Bosi to meet with crisis-mental health caseworkers. On scene Smith learned the caseworkers had an active 302 warrant for Louisa Lopiccolo, 210 W. Phillips St., Coaldale. Smith took her into custody and transported her to the mental health unit at the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton.

Officer Brian White issued a no passing zone citation on July 7 along SR209 at SR93.

Officer Carl Breiner issued three citations on July 10 at the intersection of SR209 and Mermon Ave. for stop sign violations.
