Schuylkill driver to be cited

A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, at 886 Garfield Ave., in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said William A. Wingle Jr., 18, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Astro van northbound when, for unknown reason, began to drift closer to the shoulder and then entered the shoulder of the road. The van then struck a set of porch stairs at the above stated address. The property owner was identified as Mark J. O'Brien, 46, of Pottsville.

After initial impact, the passenger side mirror snapped back against the front passenger side window breaking it.

No one was injured and the van was driven from the scene. Troopers noted in their report that Wingle would be charged.
