Rear-end crash probed in Carbon
State police at Lehighton reported investigating a rear-end type crash about 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.
Troopers said Robert A. Galade, 67, of Lehighton, was stopped in the left turn lane waiting for traffic to clear to turn left onto Club Road when his GMC van was struck in the rear by a Dodge Avenger operated by Kathy M. Mertz, 38, of Weissport.
Troopers indicated that Mertz injured and taken to the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton. Galade was not hurt.
Troopers cited Mertz for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
