Tamaqua 11's win two games

Tamaqua's All-Stars won their first two games in the District 11 Little League 10-11 year-old Tournament, which is being hosted by Bill Angst Stadium on Dutch Hill in Tamaqua.

Tamaqua-Hazleton

Tamaqua defeated Hazleton 6-4 in the first round of the District 18 tournament.

Eddie Titus pitched 4 innings, striking out six batters and walking four to earn the victory. Ethan Kuczynski came on in relief to finish the game.

Tamaqua-Valley East

Tamaqua defeated Valley East 2-1 in the second round.

The win advances Tamaqua to the winners bracket final against Valley Easton Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

Teague Schmidt pitched a dominating five innings for Tamaqua, striking out 13 batters and only walking two. Once again Ethan Kuczynski came on in relief in the 6th inning to strike out three and walk one.

Ethan Kuczynski and Austin Zwokenik each had doubles for Tamaqua and Teague Schmidt had a single. Valley East did not have a hit in the contest.

Franklin Twp

.-Lansford

Franklin Township scored an 8-0 win over Lansford in Panther Valley Little League Tournament 11-12 year-old play.

Wyatt Clements led the way for Franklin at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a double. Brody Hydro homered and got the pitching win, striking out 14 in 5 1/2 innings of work.

Franklin Twp.-JT Red

Franklin Township rolled past Jim Thorpe Red 16-2.

Wyatt Clements pitched all five innings for Franklin for the mound win, giving up three hits.

Offensively, Brody Hydro went 3 for 3 with a home run and totaled five RBI for the game. Hunter Greene also went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI. Dante Salerno and Damian Mele added two hits each.

Jordan McElmoyle, KJ Snerr, and Ryan McCullough each had a hit for Jim Thorpe.

Franklin Twp.

-Towamensing

Franklin Township improved to 3-0 with a 14-4 victory over Towamensing.

For Franklin, Dante Salerno had two hits and three runs scored, Wyatt Clements two hits and three RBI, Brody Hydro two hits, including a two run homer, three runs scored and three RBI. Damian Mele added two hits and Hunter Greene and Tyler Cann each had one hit.

For Towamensing, Jon Swartz and Trent Haydt each had two hits, Danny Nicola hit a solo homer and Jake Kupilas and Nick Jaferty each had one hit.

Salerno earned the mound win while Nicolo sustained the setback.
