Youth shot with assault rifle

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating a shooting incident that was reported at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday after a 17-year-old boy was shot by an assault rifle.

Police said the incident happened at 2425 Yellowstone Drive when the boy was shot inside the residence. Police said he suffered life threatening injuries and was flown to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Luzerne County for treatment.

Police said a second 17-year-old boy was present in the home and was interviewed.
