A Hazeton man has been cited by Tamaqua Police following a July 11 accident on SR309 at the bottom of the Hometown Hill.

Officers were dispatched to the Hometown Hill, near the Taggertsville intersection, at 3:56 a.m. and found a Jeep on its side, up against the rock embankment. The driver, Wilkins Yeremis De Los Santo, 28, of Hazleton, was not injured in the crash.

According to the report, the Jeep had been traveling south at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on the curve. He over-corrected, slid across the highway and hit a patch of dirt. The vehicle was flipped onto its side.

Blood tests indicate that Yeremis de Las Santo had a blood alcohol level of .13, almost twice the legal limit.

He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.
