Minor injuries in Schuylkill mishap

Minor injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 11:25 a.m. on Friday, July 16, along SR924 in Gilberton, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Christine Lesher, 47, of Frackville, was southbound operating a 1998 Ford Escort when the car began to roll backward. She was unable to avoid a 1989 Ford Ranger and struck it head-on while it was parked along the shoulder. The Ranger was parked at the location earlier by the owner because of mechanical problems, troopers said.

Lesher was slightly injured and taken to St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland. Damages were heavy to the front end of the Escort and minor to the Ranger.
