Vehicle stop leads to drug charges

A vehicle stop by members of the Pocono Mountain Regional police had led to drug charges.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle code violation about 12:54 a.m. on Monday, July 19, along SR940 at Pocono Pines, Tobyhanna Township.

The driver was identified as Lawrence Johnson III, 21, of Pocono Pines. In speaking with Johnson officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was made and found was a bag of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
