Democrats to meet
The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet on Monday, at 7:30 p.m., at the East End Fire Company.
Class of 1961
The Tamaqua Class of 1961 will meet July 27, at 7 p.m., at 605 Brew St. The group will discuss plans for a golden (50th) anniversary reunion.

Band rehearsals
The Tamaqua Raider Band has begun preparing for the 2010 Summer Band Camp with rehearsal sessions. The next summer band rehearsal will be held July 27, from 9-11 a.m., in the band room.
New and old band members rehearsal will be held Aug. 3. New members, drum majors, officers and captains will meet from 4-5:30 p.m. that day, followed by a pizza party. From 6-8 p.m., all musicians will meet to prepare the music and marching techniques for the upcoming season.
Band Camp will begin Aug. 9 at 8 a.m.
Calvary UM
Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church continues holdings its services and events at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Rd. The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. The PPR Committee will meet immediately following the service.
Also Sunday, evening prayer services will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Next Wednesday, there will be an evening of prayer and sharing, beginning at 7 p.m.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery care is available during the service.
The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.
An old-fashioned picnic will be held Saturday, from 4-8 p.m., complete with games, ice cream sundaes, a basket raffle and more.

Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Playground Pals at 11:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Waterside Whistle Stop at 2:30 p.m., Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 2:30 p.m., Prayer and Bible study at 6:30 p.m.
