Published July 27. 2010 05:00PM

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes probed by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways, including one in which a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) is pending.

A crash occurred about 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, July 25, along SR125 in Hegins Township. Troopers said Nikki E. Klock, 25, of Pitman, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta southbound near the intersection with Deep Creek Road when she continued straight off a sharp right down hill curve and struck a tree head-on. Klock said she fell asleep and did not realize the car had left the road.

Klock was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of injuries. She admitted drinking alcohol prior to the crash. A DUI charge is pending test results, troopers added.

A crash occurred about 5:50 a.m. on July 22 along SR901 in Foster Township. Troopers said Andrew E. Brown, 24, of Mt. Carmel, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier and negotiating a curve when he lost control. Brown said he inadvertently stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and the vehicle struck several large rocks along the south berm.

Brown suffered a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center, S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment. He was cited for traveling on roadways laned for traffic.
