DUI arrests reported

State police at Lehighton reported on several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by troopers in recent days.

On Saturday, July 24, at 12:20 a.m. troopers observed a vehicle being operated erratically along SR209 in the area of Koch Rd., in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. The driver then stopped at the end of a private driveway. Troopers approached the car and found the driver asleep with the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. The driver was identified as Wilhelm Nebel, 47, of Saylorsburg. The car was still running and the transmission was in drive, troopers said, Nebel's foot on the brake.

Nebel failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Palmerton hospital for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.

Also on Saturday, about 10:22 p.m., troopers stopped a vehicle operated by Michael Case, 18, of Glenolden, Delaware County, for traffic violations. He was found to be under the influence and is possession of illegal drugs. He was placed under arrest for DUI and drug possession, troopers said.

About 11:30 p.m. on Saturday troopers stopped a vehicle for motor vehicle violations along the northeast extension of the turnpike in Penn Forest Township. The driver was identified as Robert Leroy Dell III, 27, of Pittsfield, Warren County. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. Troopers also said Dell was carrying a firearm without a license and was charged with that offense.
