Hit-and-run crashes probed
Two hit-and-run crashes are being probed in Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said a vehicle was driven northbound on Hidden Valley Road, in Wayne Township, about 6:30 a.m. on July 22 when for unknown reasons the driver drove onto the berm and struck a mailbox, then re-entered the road and continued north without stopping. The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a Ford pickup truck and should have front end and right front end damage and a missing Ford emblem from the front.
The second hit-and-run occurred sometime overnight of Saturday, July 24, at 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday.
A vehicle was driven northbound on Berne Drive, in South Manheim Township, when it left the road and traveled into a ditch striking three reflective posts owned by Ronald E. Murhon Sr., 65, of Schuylkill Haven.
The vehicle then struck a portion of a retaining wall and the driver then fled the scene.
Debris found at the scene was left from a Volkswagen vehicle, troopers said.
